Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Tailstory handles information when you use our pet care diary, family access, learning, subscription, and related web services.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Tailstory mobile applications for iOS and Android, the Tailstory web experience, and related services that link to this policy. Tailstory is designed for pet owners worldwide and is not a human medical service.

We use "Tailstory", "we", "us", and "our" to refer to the operator of the Tailstory service. You can contact us at hello@tailstory.app.

Data We Collect

Account and authentication data

We collect information you provide or use to sign in, such as email address, phone number, one-time passcode request records, Google Sign-In identifiers, authentication provider, access and refresh token metadata, consent records, city, country, timezone, display name, and profile details.

Pet care content

You may add pet profiles, photos, species, breed, sex, birthday, weight, character, living-place details, chip numbers, neuter status, health diary events, vaccines, parasite care, grooming, lab tests, vet visits, custom events, reminders, notes, body-atlas markers, feeding logs, rations, stool observations, walks, mood, tags, and route data.

Documents, photos, and files

Tailstory lets you upload and store pet documents and media, including pet passports, lab results, treatment plans, receipts, PDFs, JPEG files, PNG files, document photos, pet photos, feeding photos, walk photos, and files attached to events.

Location, device, app, and diagnostics data

If you choose location-based features, we may collect precise location while you actively record a walk and location coordinates used to detect your city. We may collect device platform, app version, language, approximate region, network status, push notification tokens, crash reports, performance events, navigation events, resource timing, logs, and error diagnostics.

Subscription and commerce data

For Premium features, we process subscription state, plan identifiers, entitlement status, paywall interactions, purchase and restore events, storefront country, and store-provided transaction references. Payments are handled by Apple, Google, and subscription service providers; we do not receive full payment card details from app stores.

How We Use Data

We use information to:

  • create, secure, and maintain your Tailstory account;
  • send OTP codes and support email, phone, and Google authentication;
  • sync pet profiles, diaries, documents, courses, family access, and subscriptions;
  • record active walk routes and show walk summaries when you choose that feature;
  • send reminders, inbox items, service notices, and push notifications you allow;
  • provide support, troubleshoot bugs, detect abuse, and protect the service;
  • measure app quality, performance, stability, and feature usage;
  • comply with law, store rules, tax, accounting, security, and legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use pet health diary records, documents, photos, or precise walk routes for third-party advertising.

Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate Tailstory, comply with law, or honor your choices. Relevant recipients may include:

  • cloud hosting, storage, database, and content delivery providers;
  • SMS and email delivery providers used to send one-time codes and service messages;
  • Google Sign-In and Apple or Google app store services used for authentication and billing;
  • Adapty, used for subscription paywalls, entitlements, and purchase state;
  • Datadog, used for crash, error, performance, and diagnostic monitoring;
  • Expo Push Service, used to deliver push notifications when enabled;
  • family members you invite or join with, according to the access choices in the app;
  • authorities or third parties when required by law, safety, fraud prevention, or legal process.

Third-party SDKs and service providers are expected to process data for Tailstory service purposes and to protect it appropriately.

Sensitive Features And Permissions

Some Tailstory features require device permissions. Camera and photo library access are used for pet photos, document photos, feeding photos, walk photos, and uploads you initiate. Document access is used when you select PDFs or files to upload. Location permission is used for city detection and for recording walk routes while a tracked walk is active. Notification permission is used to register push tokens and deliver reminders or service messages.

Tailstory may include pet health and care information, but the service is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. For veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergencies, consult a qualified veterinarian.

Retention And Deletion

We keep account and pet care information while your account is active or as needed to provide Tailstory. We may keep some records for longer when necessary for security, fraud prevention, backup recovery, accounting, dispute resolution, compliance with law, or enforcement of our terms.

You can delete individual pets, events, walks, documents, and other content in supported app flows. You can request deletion of your account in the app profile screen or by using our outside-app deletion page at tailstory.app/delete-account. Account deletion is intended to delete the account record and associated personal data unless retention is required or permitted for legitimate reasons.

Cached files on your device may remain until the app, operating system, or you remove them. Uninstalling the app may remove local data from that device but does not by itself delete server-side account data.

Your Rights And Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or withdraw consent for certain processing of your personal data. You can update some information inside the app. To make a privacy request, contact hello@tailstory.app.

You can control device permissions such as location, camera, photos, and notifications in your operating system settings. You can manage or cancel app-store subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play subscription controls.

Children

Tailstory is intended for pet owners and general audiences, not for children as the primary audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children where parental consent is required by law. If you believe a child provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

International Transfers And Security

Tailstory is offered worldwide, so information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted transport where appropriate, access controls, and protected authentication token storage in the app.

No online service can guarantee perfect security. Please keep your device and authentication methods safe and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
